John Deere has been using its logo since 1876.
As the name consists of deer in Deere that’s what deer comes in the logo. It’s a North American white tailed deer. This logo has been modified since the 1870s and now it has a refined and modern logo. Earlier the deer was landing and now it is leaping upwards giving a message of commitment to be ahead in the industry. There have been 8 variations until the green yellow logo we know today.
Founder never saw a tractor in his life:
The founder John Deere in 1837 made a plow from a broken sawblade. However, it was involved in tractor manufacturing after 32 years after his death. Before that, they were purely into manufacturing of plows and other harvesting equipment. As it went into the tractor business it manufactured over 700 models.
Formed a battalion to serve the US Army:
In 1942 John Deere was hired to form a battalion to save the US Army to service and repair tanks. It also manufactured Army tractors during World War 2.
Global Presence:
John Deere has the largest global presence having manufacturing facilities in different countries and serves customers worldwide.
John Deere manufactured Bicycles and Snow bikes too:
Bicycles got a huge craze in the US in 1894 inspired John Deere to manufacture bicycles to cater to the masses. Eventually, the craze went down and they stopped the production of bicycles. John Deere also manufactured Snow bikes and was an official supplier in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games.
Own publication house:
John Deere launched its agricultural journal in 1895 called “The Furrow”. It showcased its products and stories of farmers which attracted 5000000 readers and it is still publishes showcasing stories of farmers and agricultural organizations.
Went international in 1912:
The company went international in 1912 setting up its first manufacturing unit in Canada and later Mexico, Germany, Spain. There are now 110 John Deere units overall including India.
